Apple deliberately complicates iPhone 13 repairs: replacing the display in an unauthorized center will disable Face ID

Apple has long been in every possible way preventing unofficial service centers where your smartphone will be repaired or

The tablet is much cheaper than in official outlets. Therefore, with the release of the new iPhone 13 line, the company screwed users over.

What's wrong?

The author of the YouTube channel Phone Repair Guru conducteddisassembling the iPhone 13 and found out that replacing the display at an unauthorized service center will lead to the Face ID facial recognition sensor stopping working. Although the screen and TrueDepth camera are separate components and they change independently of each other.

For example, when replacing a microphone, sensorsillumination and proximity problems do not arise, but when replacing the display, a message appears that it is not original, as a result of which Face ID stops working.

According to the author of the video, this is apparently softwareApple's security mechanism. It seems to recognize original components by serial numbers and otherwise blocks Face ID. And there is nothing surprising in this: for example, in last year’s iPhone 12, after replacement, in the absence of authorization, the camera began to work incorrectly.

As for the current case, there are workarounds, but they are too complicated, so most workshops are unlikely to go for them.
