Apple explained whether it is worth being afraid of hacking branded laptop processors

Recently, experts from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology were able to bypass the last layer of protection in

Apple M1 processor. This allows attackers to gain access to the system. The Cupertino company commented on this discovery. Discuss

The attack is called PACMAN and it works with PointerAuthentication (pointer authentication), a security feature to protect against attackers who have already been able to access memory. Experts have found a way to successfully authenticate.

Apple said that the immediate risks tothere are no users. The company thanked the researchers for their work, but the tech giant's experts concluded that this attack alone was not enough to bypass operating system protections.

Journalists noted that despite this, the problem is not something that can be brushed aside. Many processor manufacturers, including Qualcomm and Samsung, have either introduced or will introduce chips with Pointer Authentication, and if the threat is not addressed, it could "affect most mobile devices and probably even desktop devices" in the future.
