The long story of the AirPower charging mat, which was announced by Apple and later canceled, seems to be

again there is room for discussion.According to YouTuber and leaker Jon Prosser, Apple has resumed development of the project almost a year after canceling its AirPower wireless charging mat. However, we have no guarantee yet that the accessory will be released soon.

Recall that Apple itself only announced to the public that the AirPower accessory could not reach its high standards, and rumored to have spread information that the rug had problems with heat regulation and interference.

Apple first announced AirPower in September2017 at the Steve Jobs Theater, shortly after the introduction of the iPhone X, and said it would be released by the end of 2018. Apple did not fulfill this promise and ultimately canceled the mat in March 2019. But the manufacturer confidently stated that "it is still striving to promote the experience of wireless communications."

By the way, a few months ago, famousMing-Chi Kuo analyst predicted that one of Apple’s major new hardware products in the first half of 2020 would include a “smaller wireless charging mat,” but it did not provide any further details. Plus, it’s worth noting that the time frame may change due to the ongoing pandemic. It is also unclear whether the AirPower brand will be on the mat.
