Therefore, after the release of iPadOS 13.4 Apple has released a couple more new support documents on how to connect a Bluetooth mouse or trackpad to the iPad. The company also wrote about using accessories after connecting.

Apple explained everything in its styleunderstandably. The document on connecting accessories to the iPad begins with which models support iPadOS 13.4. This version is a prerequisite for connecting a mouse and trackpad. Among the supported models are all versions of iPad Pro, iPad Air 2 and later, iPad 5th generation and later, as well as iPad mini 4 and later.

If you have a supported iPad with iPadOS 13.4, here's how you can connect a Bluetooth mouse, trackpad, or keyboard with an integrated trackpad to it:

  • Turn on your Bluetooth accessory and place it next to your iPad.

  • Make sure the accessory is in connect or search mode.

    • The Apple Magic Mouse and Magic Trackpad should already be ready to connect.
    • If you have a third-party accessory, then follow the instructions for entering the connection mode from the manufacturer.
  • Open the Settings app on your iPad.

  • Select Bluetooth.

  • In the Other devices section, find your Bluetooth accessory and select it to connect to your iPad.

If you see a warning with the text: “Using this accessory may affect Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity,” it may cause problems. In addition, if you connect several accessories to the device at once, and all of them are active, this will also lead to problems.

The document also talks about how to reconnect, disconnect and forget the accessory.

A separate document talks about howUse a Bluetooth mouse or trackpad after successfully connecting to an iPad. It is worth noting that the cursor on the iPad changes shape depending on what it is pointed at.

When the cursor moves over the screen over differentelements, its shape is changing. For example, above the text it looks like a wand. This means that you can embed the cursor in the text and select or copy it.

An example you can see in the image below.

Apple also explained how to change the trackpad or mouse settings.
