Electronic Arts has published a patent "Detecting Collusion in Online Games".This system is capable of

Analyze the actions of players and recognize unsportsmanlike behavior.

To do this, the system will track players in the match itself, as well as identify mutual friends and social interactions in various groups, clans and chats.

The system provides several options for punishment: the violator can be expelled from the match, deprive of rewards, block access to the game for a while or permanently.

Note that many such developmentsremain in the format of an idea and do not reach practical application. It is difficult to say whether EA will use such a system in their games, but given the growing popularity of online games and their high degree of competition, the patent may well be used in the company's future multiplayer projects.
