The Defense Forces of Ukraine received British AS-90 artillery mounts.
What is known
At the beginning of the year, the UK announced the provision of 24 AS-90 self-propelled artillery mounts to Ukraine. Later, the United Kingdom increased the number of guns by more than a third, to 33 units.
Britain itself will not be left empty-handed.Instead of the AS-90s transferred to Ukraine, the Ministry of Defense of the United Kingdom will purchase 14 Archer self-propelled howitzers. The amount of the contract has not yet been specified.
AS-90 is a British artilleryinstallation on a tracked chassis. It was developed by Vickers Shipbuilding and Engineering, a division of BAE Syatems. In total, the company produced about two hundred howitzers, excluding prototypes.
The main weapon of the combat vehicle is the 155 mm L31 cannon. The maximum firing range is 30 km. In addition to the L31 cannon, the howitzer has one L7 machine gun of 7.62 mm caliber.

The AS-90 is powered by a 660 horsepower Cummins VTA903T eight-cylinder diesel engine. The combat vehicle can reach speeds of 55 km / h on the highway and has a cruising range of 370 km.
