The application is designed for farmers and expertsin the field of agriculture and is available for computers and Android devices. The project uses deep learning mechanisms to increase the speed and efficiency of data processing.
“Deep learning allows us to acceleratethe application so that the farmer can get a quick response after uploading the image, it takes about ten seconds,” says Sean Carlyle Kefauver, Plant Phenomics.
Doctor X Nabat and DoctorXUB website.com were launched from a database of over 25,000 photographs of various diseases, abiotic stresses and nutritional deficiencies. The images were uploaded by the project's research staff and collaborators. The application has been tested on tomato, pepper and cucumber crops in Egypt, Tunisia and the United Arab Emirates, and scientists are currently developing a version for use on other crops in Mediterranean areas.
