Astronomers have discovered an orphan gas cloud larger than the Milky Way

The “neutral zone” is more than 300 million light years away from the Earth. She represents a place

clusters of thousands of galaxies interconnectedrarefied hot gas with a temperature equal to tens of millions of degrees Kelvin. The mass of the “cloud” itself, which scientists called “orphan” or “lonely,” is 10 billion times greater than the mass of the Sun. It is larger and “heavier” than some galaxies. Its temperature range is from 10,000 to 10,000,000 degrees Kelvin (from 9,727 °C to 10,000,000,000 °C).

Scientists have discovered a cloud in Abell 1367, a cluster of galaxies in the constellation Leo. It contains about 70 galaxies and is located about 300 million light-years from Earth.

Most likely a mysterious space cloudoriginated from an unknown galaxy in a cluster. Perhaps it is held together by a magnetic field that suppresses unstable forces. Otherwise, it would have dissipated, experts say.

In future research, the lonely cloud andothers, yet to be discovered, will help scientists better understand interstellar media far removed from their galaxies, as well as the effects of turbulence and heat conduction.

The space object was detected with the ESA XMM-Newton X-ray telescope. The cloud was also observed by the MUSE instrument on the VLT telescope and the Subaru telescope.
