Astronomers have found the source of mysterious radio bursts that come from space

Yun-feng Huang from Nanjing University, together with colleagues, studied powerful and short signals that come from

space. The team believes that their source may be dying planets around neutron stars.

Astrophysicists in China have said dying planets emit fast radio bursts when they are too close to neutron stars.

Scientists have said that the planets may be aroundneutron stars. To confirm this, they ran a simulation of a system that has a neutron star and a planet orbiting in a tight, highly elliptical orbit.

The planet may be very close to the star andfly away from her at a great distance. Such an object, located near a neutron star, will be subject to powerful tidal forces in its inhomogeneous gravitational field. Because of these forces, the star destroys the planet over and over again.

Medium-sized can break away from the planetfragments, due to which radio bursts occur. A neutron star emits a stellar wind much stronger than a typical average star like the Sun. Under the influence of this stream of particles and radiation, a cloud of fragments of a dying planet can glow brightly in the radio range. When debris flies between a neutron star and our planet, radio bursts appear that can be recorded from different devices.

The authors believe that their hypothesis can be confirmed or refuted with the help of long-term observations of radio bursts and planets that can potentially emit them.
