What is it?
ASUS ROG Strix Scope is a wired gaming keyboard with a standard layout, a minimalist skeleton design, customizable backlight and Cherry MX mechanical switches.

ASUS claims the keyboard is optimizedfor first-person shooters, in particular, they decided to make a wide left Control key. There is a quick change of the mode of operation of the upper row of keys: multimedia or functional, like on notebook keyboards. There is a key Stealth, which minimizes all applications and turns off the sound. The rest is all in the best traditions: the standard layout without additional buttons, mechanical switches Cherry MX RGB, metal lining on the upper part of the body, support for macros and RGB lights with Aura Sync to synchronize with other devices.

The keyboard comes in a dense cardboardblack box, on top of which is put on the cover of soft cardboard with colorful printing. Included - a keyboard, instructions, a set of stickers and replaceable caps on the WASD buttons with a tool for quick replacement. To us the last position of the kit did not reach, but in commercial trim levels there are:

In appearance ASUS ROG Strix Scope Companysuccessfully combined the classic “skeleton” design with recognizable design elements of the ROG line. The keyboard is compact, the front face is beveled, with “chopped” corners, with the inscription “Republic of Gamers” on it. Caps are made of the usual black plastic with a matte surface:

The top panel of the keyboard is made of enougha thick sheet of metal and has a matte surface, which on the right side is replaced by a diagonal polish, which can be seen in other devices of the ROG line:

In the upper right corner, next to the LED indicators (of which there are five, by the way), the ROG logo with the backlight is located:

No wrist pads are provided:

The bottom of the keyboard is made of matteplastic, with decorative diagonal stripes and another logo ROG. But more important is the presence of six large rubberized legs around the perimeter, due to which the keyboard does not slide on the table and does not bend. In the upper part there are grooves for cable laying, if necessary:

Folding legs also with rubber inserts for stability:

The keyboard can be placed at two angles:

The cable is of medium thickness, soft, in a fabric braid. No complaints have arisen against him:

ASUS ROG Strix Scope is weighty (1070 g) and tough thanks to a metal plate. Nowhere does not bend, not loose, the assembly is excellent.

Keyboard layout is practically standard,so there will be no surprises and you will not miss the buttons. In any case, I did not have any false clicks. In fact, there is only one feature: an extended left Ctrl and, as a result, Win and Alt are slightly smaller next to each other. ASUS says it's good for shooters. This is possible, although it is extremely difficult to miss the angular Ctrl if there are no additional buttons behind it:

Multimedia buttons are aligned with F row, itcan work in two modes. In functional or multimedia mode, the switch occurs with the Fn + Ins combination. Of the additional chips is the Sthealth button, which is combined with F12. It closes all windows and turns off the sound, and pressing again returns everything back.

We had a version with old ones on the review, wellfamiliar to all switches Cherry MX RGB Red. They are considered one of the most optimal for games to have a linear stroke, full stroke - 4 mm, before triggering - 2 mm. The required weight for triggering is 45 g. They have no tactile response at the trigger point and they are not too noisy, there is sound only at the lowest point when pressed. In games, these switches show themselves perfectly, typing takes a little time to get used to. If you have any personal preferences, then ASUS has the same keyboard with switches Cherry MX RGB Brown, Blue, Black, Speed Silver and Silent Red.

Under the long buttons (space in particular) there are additional stabilizers:

The keyboard is equipped with a RGB-backlit with a bunchvarious effects that can be switched without software using combinations Fn + left / right arrows. Down and up - adjust the brightness. The backlight is bright, but the uniformity is not perfect: Cyrillic is highlighted a little worse. But this is a feature of all Cherry switches because of their design:

What is out of the extra features?
To customize the keyboard you can useFirmware ASUS Armory II, it is common to all gaming peripherals ASUS. The set of functions is standard and everything is implemented as clearly as possible. You can assign actions to the buttons, select a combination of buttons for the game mode (disabling the Windows button), record macros, adjust the backlight as you please, and synchronize it with other devices that support AURA Sync. It is also possible for someone to use the ability to record click statistics:

The keyboard has built-in memory, soafter setting you can forget about the software. And the basic necessary functions work without it. Already traditionally for ASUS keyboards, there is a set of shortcut keys for basic actions:
- Fn + F5-F11 - volume and playback control
- Fn + F12 - Stealth button
- Fn + Win - disable the Windows button
- Fn + right Alt - start and end of the macro recording, after which you need to press the desired button to assign it
- Fn + 1-5 - switching profiles
- Fn + left and right arrows - switch backlight modes, up and down - brightness
- Fn + Del - color customization, increase in red, 10 gradations
- Fn + End - increase blue
- Fn + PageDown - increase green
- Fn + Esc - reset to factory settings (long hold)

ASUS ROG Strix Scope - great gamingkeyboard with a robust and practical body, proven design, stylish appearance and durable Cherry MX mechanical switches. She is pleased with the settings, including without software, with the built-in memory for saving profiles and fully customizable RGB-backlit with support for Aura synchronization. A peculiar gentleman's set of everything that should be in a good modern game mechanics. Add in this case is nothing special. If we really find fault with the little things, then maybe someone would not interfere with the stand under the wrist in the kit. The keyboard is standing now 3200 UAH and it is much cheaper to find a similar A-brand model with Cherry switches.
