At CES 2020 introduced the first color smartphone with an E Ink display

The Chinese company Hisense presented a prototype of a smartphone with an E Ink electronic paper display. Such screens

widely used in e-readers and are highly energy efficient.

A stand with a unique device appeared onat the 2020 Consumer Electronic Show, which is currently taking place in Las Vegas. The manufacturer does not provide detailed technical specifications, as well as the start date of sales. We only know that such smartphones will be equipped with the latest E Ink displays with a higher refresh rate compared to the previous generation. Unofficial sources added that the device is capable of reproducing 4,096 colors.

E Ink displays consume energy only when the image is redrawn, they are comfortable to use in bright light, and the image is saved even if the smartphone is turned off.

Approximate dates

According to Hisense, mass production of color displays will begin in the second quarter of 2020. The smartphones themselves should hit the market in the third quarter.
