The Atlas V rocket launched on October 5 at 00:36 (EET) from Cape Canaveral, Florida. She launched the SES-20 and SES-21 spacecraft into geosynchronous orbit to provide a television signal to the United States.

United Launch Alliance confirmed that the missionended in success. The SES-20 satellite was deployed into orbit 5 hours 40 minutes after launch. After another 40 minutes, it was joined by a second spacecraft. They will orbit the Earth at a distance of almost 36,000 km.
