The United States will build a new air base for B-52H strategic bombers in Australia
What is known
A new military facility will be built next toTyndal Air Base of the Royal Australian Air Force, which is located 320 km southeast of the city of Darwin. Six nuclear bombers will be stationed at the base.
On the territory of the military facility will be locatedoperations control center for the B-52 Stratofortress squadron. Also, the United States will create infrastructure to provide maintenance and repair of bombers.
US Air Force officials saythat the presence of the B-52 Stratofortress in Australia would demonstrate to China that any aggression against Taiwan would have consequences. The completion of the construction of the airbase is scheduled for the end of 2026.
