Bacteria found to help prevent bowel disease, including cancer

Scientists have identified five strains of intestinal bacteria. These bacteria may help in treatment and prevention

inflammatory bowel disease and some types of bowel cancer. The results of a recent study were published in Cell Reports. Discuss

Experts from the University of Queensland and Materafound several strains of gut bacteria that can suppress inflammation in the gut and signs of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). IBD is a chronic disease in which inflammation occurs in the intestines from time to time.

A team of scientists led by Associate Professor JakeA runner from the University of Queensland was able to detect bacteria in a healthy gut that produce anti-inflammatory substances. Laboratory tests have shown that there are five strains of such bacteria.

One of the strains, according to Dr. Begun, mayeven create anti-inflammatory substances that can reduce the severity of bowel disease without side effects. Moreover, this happens by inhibiting the enzyme NF-kB.
