BAE Systems Receives $12 Million To Build A Homing System For Smart Bombs With A JDAM Kit

BAE Systems has officially announced the signing of a contract for the production of homing systems for

smart bombs that are equipped with a suite of Joint Direct Attack Munition (JDAM) equipment.

The contract value was $12 million. The customer is the United States Air Force. The deal involves the development of a multi-mode homing head as part of the QUICKSINK project.

The program aims to create cheapair-launched munitions that can be used to destroy enemy naval threats. The US Air Force demonstrated the QUICKSINK concept about a year ago.

It involves the use of "smart" bombs witha set of JDAM equipment for destroying enemy ships. The use of a multi-mode homing head developed by BAE Systems will further increase the accuracy of the ammunition.
