Baykar tests new Bayraktar VTOL drone for flagship aircraft carrier Anadolu

Turkish defense company Baykar tested an unmanned aerial vehicle with vertical

takeoff and landing. The new drone is called Bayraktar VTOL.

What is known

The manufacturer has published a short video reportsuccessfully completed drone tests. As part of the test flight, Bayraktar VTOL was able to take off from a place and climb to an altitude of 8000 feet (2500 meters), after which it landed successfully.

The drone has an aerodynamic scheme "flyingwing ”, supplemented by two horizontal racks, each of which contains two propellers for vertical takeoff and landing. The UAV can operate in autonomous and semi-autonomous modes.

Bayraktar VTOL is an unmanned aerialtactical device. It will be used for reconnaissance and surveillance. Baykar is due to hand over the drone to the Turkish military next year. Bayraktar VTOL is expected to be based on the flagship aircraft carrier of the Turkish Navy TCG Anadolu.
