Because of the Sun, the Earth's atmosphere will lose all free oxygen

In order to find out, the authors of the work modeled the evolution of the Earth's atmosphere taking into account geological,

biological and climatic factors.

As a result, they found out that the earth's atmosphere will remain relatively stable for about another billion years, and after that, all oxygen will disappear from the planet within a few thousand years.

The reason for this is the activity of the Sun:because of the star in the atmosphere, the content of carbon dioxide will decrease. When this indicator reaches a critical point, the process of photosynthesis will be disrupted on the planet, and oxygen will cease to enter the atmosphere.

Within a billion years, carbon dioxide levels will be so low that photosynthetic organisms, including plants, will be unable to produce oxygen.

After their mass extinction, oxygen will decreaseto extreme values—a million times lower than today. At the same time, there will be an increase in the methane content - there will be 10,000 times more of it in the atmosphere than today.

The authors are confident that the biosphere will not be able to adapt to such significant environmental changes.
