In fact, it's still a small, elite club of apps that have over 10 billion downloads. Before Google Maps, it included only YouTube and the Google Play store itself.

To be fair, Google Maps is pre-installedto smartphones and other Android devices as part of Google Mobile Services. But, in any case, this does not apply to all downloads in the Google online store.
By the way, Google Maps has changed significantlyover the past few years: a special dark theme has appeared, real-time data on public transport has been introduced, etc. There is also a simplified Maps Go application for budget gadgets with the Android Go operating system. This version has 500 million downloads.
