NJ Tech experts in one of the episodes on YouTubetested in modern games builds with an AMD Ryzen 5 5600X processor and GTX 980 Ti (6 GB, 2015) and RX 580 (8 GB, 2017) graphics cards. Projects were launched in 1080p and 1440p resolution. Games included Rainbow Six Extraction, Elden Ring, Assassins Creed: Valhalla, Dying Light 2, Destiny 2: Witch Queen, Cyberpunk 2077 (patch 1.5), Call of Duty: Warzone, God of War, Forza Horizon 5, Far Cry 6, Resident Evil Village, Hitman 3, Watch Dogs: Legion, DOOM Eternal, Red Dead Redemption 2, Apex Legends, Shadow of Tomb Raider, Fortnite, PUBG. AT Assassins Creed: Valhalla with DX12 and the medium preset at 1080p, the average FPS was 66 fps (RX 580) and 72 fps (GTX 980 Ti). In 1440p resolution - 47 fps and 51 fps, respectively.

A game Cyberpunk 2077 (patch 1.5) Came with DX12, disabled DLSS and FSR, medium preset. Performance averaged 52 fps (580), 54 fps (980 Ti) in 1080p and 32 fps, 34 fps in 1440p.

Call of Duty: Warzone Run on high graphics settings with DX12.At 1080p, average game performance was 75 fps with the RX 580 and 89 fps with the GTX 980 Ti. At 1440p resolution, these figures were 51 fps and 64 fps.

Forza horizon 5 Came with DX12 and a high preset. The average frame rate in this game was 74 fps (1080p) and 52 fps (1440p) with the RX 580, 73 fps and 55 fps (1440p) with the GTX 980 Ti, respectively.

Far cry 6 launched with a medium preset and DX12. The average FPS in 1080p in it was 79 fps (580) and 85 fps (980 Ti), in 1440p - 53 fps and 59 fps.


Hitman 3 Came with DX12 and medium preset. At 1080p with the RX 580, performance here was 83 fps, at 1440p it was 55 fps. At the same time, with the GTX 980 Ti, it was possible to get 82 fps and 53 fps, respectively.

Red dead redemption 2 Run on medium graphics settings with DX12. The average FPS in it was 77 fps (RX 580) and 83 fps (GTX 980 Ti) at 1080p, 60 and 65 fps at 1440p, respectively.

AT Shadow of Tomb Raider with the highest settings and with DX12, we managed to get 65 fps (RX 580) and 74 fps (GTX 980 Ti) in 1080p, 38 fps and 53 fps in 1440p.

A game Fortnite came with DX12, medium preset and Epic View Distance. At 1080p it averaged 76fps (with RX 580) and 115fps (with GTX 980 Ti), at 1440p it averaged 45fps and 73fps.

AT PUBG with DX11 and a high preset of 1080p, performance was 72 fps with the RX 580 and 112 fps with the GTX 980 Ti. At 1440p, these values ​​dropped to 52 fps and 81 fps, respectively.

Averaged at both 1080p and 1440p across all projectsthe leader was the GTX 980 Ti. At the same time, at 1080p the difference between it and the RX 580 was 15% (73 fps vs 84 fps), at 1440p it was 18% (50 fps vs 59 fps). Video cards heat up almost the same, and power consumption is 25% higher for the GTX 980 Ti (413 W vs. 309 W).
