BioWare will release legendary versions of the first Mass Effect, and is already preparing a new game in the series

Mass Effect is back in action. BioWare has announced a "Legendary Edition" featuring remakes of the first three games in the series,

and also spoke about the continuation of the universe.

Improved trilogy

In Mass Effect:The Legendary Edition will include the first three games with improved graphics, as well as released DLC and “promotional weapons, armor and sets.” Technical improvements include updated textures, shaders, models, effects, as well as support for high resolution and frame rates.

"Our goal was not to remakeor reimagining the original games, it's about modernizing the experience so that fans and new players can experience the original work in its best form. It was amazing to see Commander Shepard's adventures take on new life in super-crisp resolution, higher frame rates, and beautiful visual enhancements,” writes Casey Hudson, VP and General Manager of BioWare Studios.

Mass Effect Legendary Edition will be released in the spring of 2021 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, as well as PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X via backward compatibility.

BioWare also announced a sequel to Mass Effect. The new game is already in development, but it’s only at an early stage, so Hudson didn’t share the details:

"Meanwhile, here at BioWare, the teamveterans is hard at work creating the next chapter of the Mass Effect universe. We're in the early stages of the project and can't say much more yet, but we look forward to sharing our vision of where we'll go next.
