Blizzard will shake up Overwatch with an experimental mode and weekly hero bans

Overwatch lead designer Jeff Kaplan announced the developers' new approach to updating the game.

Blizzard will add “Experimental” to Overwatchcards”, which will appear in the game as a separate mode. The site will serve as a kind of test server for developers and gamers, where the team will test changes in the heroes and the modes themselves.

Unlike the Public Test Servers (PTR), Experimental Maps will be available on PC and consoles, and players will be able to receive experience and rewards for completing challenges in this mode.

Changes presented in the experimentalmode, I may not be able to get to the fast and competitive games of Overwatch. In addition, Blizzard will be removing some of the changes that made it to the “live servers.”

The developers are also introducing a hero ban systemin competitive mode. Throughout Season 21, each week the team will hand-pick a character and ban them. According to Kaplan, the goal is for the meta to constantly change and bring in more hero diversity. However, the ban will not work in the arcade and quick matches, but it may end up in Overwatch League games.
