Bloober Team CEO Piotr Babieno gave an interview to the Engadget portal, in which he voiced several

important theses about the future plans of your company.

What is known

Petr Babeno emphasized that the release of the remake and rethinking of Layers of Fear put an end to the developed style of Bloober Team games.

All the games of the Polish studio up to this point wereatmospheric psychological horror with slow gameplay and almost complete absence of action elements. Therefore, the glory of “walking simulators” has stuck behind them, and not always in a good way.

Babeno said that this stage in the development of the studiopassed. From now on, Bloober Team will make horror games with a greater emphasis on gameplay, action and drive, and will not focus only on the plot and atmosphere.

The remake of Silent Hill 2 will fully illustrate the new approach of the Bloober Team: the team will continue to make horror games, but they will be much more attractive to a wide audience.

This year we leave the era in which we were engaged in psychological horror. Right now we are moving towards Bloober Team version 3.0 and will be working on mass market horror.

As for Silent Hill 2

Petr Babeno said that he started negotiations withKonami back in 2015, but at first their idea was not to create a remake of the cult game, but to develop a spin-off of Silent Hill. Only in 2019, Konami considered the potential of the Polish studio and invited its management to a business meeting regarding cooperation, and the official announcement of the remake of Silent Hill 2 took place in 2022.

We were so afraid to touch the game. From the very first day of negotiations, we realized that half the world would love us, and the remaining people would hate us. We are dealing with something sacred.
