Bloomberg: Netflix Games Will Be Available To iOS Users In The App Store, But There Is A Caveat

Bloomberg's Mark Gurman reported in his newsletter that Netflix plans to release its mobile games on iOS

separately through the App Store. Developer Steve Moser shared the information with Bloomberg after discovering code in the Netflix app that points to an interesting solution to circumvent Apple's rules.

Netflix is expected to release every game fromyour portfolio in the App Store as a separate application - just as it is done in Android. When you click on a game in the Netflix app, Google Play opens, asks you to download a separate app, and then asks you to sign in to your Netflix account.

Presumably this will work on iOSthe same way. Most likely, users will have to download the Netflix game from the App Store and then log into their Netflix account. The workaround is, let's say, well thought out, but not ideal. Technically, this wouldn't violate any App Store policies.

Theoretically, Netflix could faceresistance from Apple in the form of a ban on displaying a separate tab in the App Store with its games. Although the full list of Netflix games can be found inside the main application, not allowing App Store users to see this list of games before subscribing can result in a clear loss of revenue for the video service.
