Boeing receives $1.6 billion to service Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missiles

The United States Department of Defense announced the allocation of more than $1.5 billion to Boeing to provide

maintenance of Minuteman III missiles.

What is known

The contract is valid until February 1, 2039.Boeing will receive $1.6 billion and the work will be carried out at Hill Air Force Base in Utah. The company will support the guidance subsystem.

Minuteman III - intercontinental ballistica missile that can carry a nuclear warhead. In September 2022, the US Department of Defense conducted scheduled tests in which the missile flew 4,200 miles (6,760 km) and fell into the sea off the Marshall Islands.

It is worth noting that Minuteman III isthe only intercontinental ballistic missile in the US nuclear arsenal. Launch mines are located at military bases in three states: in Wyoming, Montana and North Dakota.
