Brazil continues to fine Apple for selling smartphones without chargers

What is known

Last month the Brazilian Ministry of Justicebanned Apple from selling the iPhone 12 and newer models without a power adapter, and also fined the American company nearly $2.4 million. A month later, the Cupertino manufacturer was fined again.

A Brazilian consumer organization filed a lawsuitwhich states that the user must make an additional purchase in order for the Apple product to work. The American company must pay nearly $20 million in damages.

The decision of the court is not final and maybe appealed. Apple cites environmental concerns. The manufacturer began selling the iPhone without a power adapter in the fall of 2020. Since then, many other companies have followed Apple's lead.
