British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace saidthat this ship will allow the country to better protect "critical submarine cables". This underwater infrastructure is "critical to the global economy and government-to-government communications." According to representatives of the military department, now the cables are "under threat of sabotage."

Various sensors will be installed on the special ship. They will be able, among other tasks, to detect underwater drones. Such a ship should be accepted into the British Navy in 2024.

It is noted that the ship will be able to perform tasks not only in British, but also in international waters. In addition, it will be capable of conducting operations in the Arctic.
