Looks like LG has started adding built-in advertising to its smart TVs.
What does it mean
An unpleasant discovery after the update was discovered by The Verge journalist, who uses an expensive 2020 LG CX OLED TV for $1,400.
According to him, the video was played in the leftbottom corner of the interface during an application update, and it started without any participation from the owner. The ad lasted 15 seconds and could not be closed or skipped.
Just got served a legit commercial while updating the apps on my LG OLED TV.

By the way, LG recently announced that it will be licensing WebOS to other TV brands, so perhaps the company is trying to see how far it can take it.
Craftsmen on the Reddit forum have already found a solution to this problem. You can get rid of advertising by blocking the following domain names on the side of your router:
- ngfts.lge.com
- us.ad.lgsmartad.com
- lgad.cjpowercast.com
- edgesuite.net
- us.info.lgsmartad.com
