By tradition: the new Apple AirPods Pro is completely unrepairable

A few days ago, Apple released new wireless headphones AirPods Pro with noise cancellation. And so

iFixit specialists got to them, disassembled them and assessed their repairability.

And How?

AirPods Pro have much more powerful hardware:A system of several microphones is used, which is responsible for noise reduction, a special chip with equalization is responsible for sound adaptation, and signal processing is carried out by a ten-core processor. As a result, the new product is a third heavier than the previous model.

"Autopsy" showed that Apple usessilicone ear pads, which have no analogues (yet) and are connected to the body with special fasteners. The battery is made by Varta, it can be bought separately in stores, but it cannot be replaced: the battery is tightly soldered to the board, so it cannot be replaced even at an official service center.

In addition, among the disadvantages there is still a large amount of glue.

Evaluation

As a result, Apple AirPods Pro headphones received 0 out of 10 possible points for repairability. This means that they cannot be disassembled and repaired without completely breaking them.

This verdict isn't surprising though: both generations of regular AirPods have the same scores.
