Can artificial intelligence unlock your iPhone

Deepfakes, or artificially created fake videos and photos of a person, can be used to

to create an image of this person. But could a video like this be used to unlock your iPhone by face? Discuss

A deepfake might look like it's almost completecopy of a person. However, modern iPhones cannot be unlocked by a picture alone. The thing is that devices use a camera and depth sensors for this.

To unlock the smartphone, an infrared projector covers the person's face with points of light invisible to the eye. The camera then determines the shape of the face in 3D.

Therefore, artificial intelligence is still unlikely to be able to unlock the iPhone. This requires at least 3D-printed masks that repeat the shape of the face and the appearance of a person.
