Canada invests $5.6 billion to upgrade infrastructure for 88 fifth-generation F-35 Lightning II fighter jets

At the beginning of 2023, Canada officially announced the purchase of 88 fifth-generation F-35 Lightning II fighters. But for

operation, the world's 7th largest country must invest in infrastructure modernization.

What is known

The total value of the acquisition transaction 88F-35A aircraft amounted to $ 14.2 billion. At the same time, at the initial stage, Canada will finance the purchase of 16 fighters and equipment in the amount of $ 7 billion. Deliveries will begin in 2026, and full operational readiness is not expected until 2032.

Another $5.6 billion government of Canada is investing in the modernization of military aviation infrastructure. Without this step, Ottawa simply will not be able to accept fifth-generation fighters into service.
