Fluorouracil creams are used to treat skin cancers and actinic keratoses. They are also used to get rid of warts in children and treat vitiligo.
It turned out that such creams are deadly fordogs. It is known about the death of 20 animals. Dogs have been reported to show signs of poisoning as early as half an hour after ingesting fluorouracil: vomiting, trembling, convulsions, shortness of breath, and diarrhea. If the animal is not treated, it will die in six hours. It is dangerous for dogs to even play with cream packaging.
There are concerns that fluorouracil may also harm cats.
