By April 30, 2021, the CDC reported approximately 101 million fully vaccinated individuals in the United States.
About a quarter of infectionsclassified as asymptomatic. A total of 995 of the infections resulted in hospitalization, of which only 160 deaths were recorded. The median age of patients who died was 82, and nearly 20% of deaths were reported as potentially unrelated to COVID-19.
The CDC notes that the total number of infections aftervaccinations may be underestimated. The US national surveillance system relies on passive and voluntary reporting, and data may not be complete or representative. Many people infected after vaccination, especially those who are asymptomatic or have mild illness, may not be tested.
