China launches latest CZ-8 launch vehicle with five satellites

The rocket was launched at 07:37 Moscow time from the Wenchang Cosmodrome on Hainan Island. This was the first flight

similar to the latest Chinese rocket. The total height of the rocket is 50.3 m, and its lifting weight is 356 tons.

After 15 minutes, the rocket reached a solar synchronous orbit at an altitude of 512 km, where five satellites separated from it: one experimental vehicle and four private probes.

Among the five satellites there was one secret XJY-7:it was launched to test technologies developed by the Chinese Academy of Space Technology (CAST). Also launched into space was the ET-SMART-RSS (ETHSAT-6U) microsatellite: this is the Haysy-1 Earth remote sensing device created for Ethiopia.

In the future, the first stage of a new rocket withlateral boosters in the "Changzheng-8R" variant are planned to be adapted for reusable use. After the launch of the rocket, it will have to carry out a controlled vertical landing on a sea platform.
