Chinese scientists have successfully tested the YF-79 engine for the Long March 9 rocket, which will

used in missions to explore the Moon and for flights into deep space.

What is known

New hydrogen-oxygen engine YF-79designed for installation in the third stage of a super-heavy rocket. The China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC) announced the successful completion of three ground tests.

The YF-79 weighs 25,000 kg and features a cycle withphase transition (expander cycle). As we noted above, it is aimed at the third stage of the Long March 9 rocket. In total, Chinese specialists have developed four engines. The first and second stages will use four YF-130 oxygen-kerosene engines and two YF-90 hydrogen-oxygen engines, respectively.
