China uses drones to create rain in Sichuan

Sichuan provincial meteorologists have decided to use drones to fight the drought.

What is known

Prolonged absence of rain in the provinceSichuan had a strong negative impact on the industry. The drought has squashed electricity production, disrupting the supply chains of a number of companies, including American Tesla and Apple.

Solve the problems of meteorological controltried with the help of unmanned aerial vehicles. On the morning of August 25, drones took to the skies in the north and southeast of the province. Until today, August 29, drones must cover an area of 6,000 m2.

Drones are used to spray ice-formingsubstances into clouds that contain some moisture. This substance can be, for example, silver iodide. Raindrops should collect around it, after which they gain mass and fall to the ground.

Note that for China, this technology is not revolutionary. Previously, the authorities of the Republic used drones to water the fields during a drought and to ensure clear skies during the Olympics.
