Chinese banned from making their most powerful GPU in Taiwan

The Chinese company Birentech was not allowed to produce its Biren GPUs at the facilities of the Taiwanese

TSMC due to U.S. regulations and competition from NVIDIA.

Biren BR100 is a general purpose GPU developed by a small start-up based in Shanghai. It is considered the most powerful in China.

According to sources, Birentechused TSMC's 7nm process to manufacture its GPU. It was supposed to contain a total of 77.0 billion transistors. Birentech stated that their chip will be 2.8 times faster than NVIDIA Ampere A100 GPUs. However, the US has officially asked TSMC to suspend chip production for Birentech.
