Chinese trace: TikTok will change the head of cybersecurity

A TikTok spokesperson told the Wall Street Journal that the decision to replace Roland Cloutier as chief security officer did not involve any data privacy concerns.

Buzzfeed News reported last month thatU.S. user data has repeatedly fallen into the hands of TikTok employees in China based on leaked audio recordings from the company's internal meetings. The post sparked a backlash in Washington, with a FCC member urging Apple and Google to remove TikTok from their app stores.

In September, Cloutier will formally step down as director of security and move to an advisory job at TikTok.
