Compare Redmi Note 8 Pro vs Realme X2

Redmi Note 8 Pro or Realme X2

Welcome to the review and comparison of Redmi Note 8 Pro phones from Xiaomi and its direct

competitor Realme X2 from Oppo.Both phones turned out to be bestsellers in the mid-price segment with outstanding technical characteristics for their price. Let's start the comparative review and find out what to buy: Redmi Note 8 Pro or Realme X2?

Appearance. Dimensions

Both smartphones have already “boring” facialpanel with a drop-shaped cutout for the front camera. Note 8 Pro is slightly more than the competitor. Weighs 200 grams with dimensions of 161.35 x 76.4 x 8.79 mm. Available in black, green, red and blue. Realme X2 has a weight of 182 grams with dimensions of 158.7 x 75.2 x 8.6 mm. Sold in white and blue.

Mediatek decided a kindrehabilitated and introduced the new single chip system Helio G90T. It is positioned as a gaming solution in the middle price segment. The guys from Xiaomi called on to test the available gaming platform in order to part-time give competition in the mobile industry in the person of the Redmi sub-brand. And it turned out well!

The Helio G90T chipset is produced in 12nanoscale process technology and consists of 8 cores, 2 of which Cortex A76 with a clock frequency of 2.05 GHz and 6 cores Cortex A55 with a clock frequency of 2 GHz. The Arm Mali-G76 MC4 operating at an overclocked frequency of up to 800 MHz is responsible for the graphics subsystem.

Tests in Antutu showed results in 226,000points, GeekBench showed 2410 points in single-core mode, 7193 multi-core, these are decent synthetic results showing the great potential of this chipset.

Realme X2

Oppo also didn't skimp on hardware.Snapdragon 730G — a new single-chip system from Qualcomm, which replaced the 710 series. The manufacturer has improved the performance of artificial intelligence, updated the graphics processor, now it is Andreno 618 with support for Vulcan 1.1. The chipset has 8 Krio 470 cores, 6 of which operate at frequencies up to 1.8 GHz, and the remaining 2 cores at 2.2 GHz. It is produced using an 8-nanometer process technology, making the chip a more energy-efficient version compared to its predecessor. Synthetic tests showed results in Antutu of about 200,000 points, GeekBench in single-core mode 2508 points, in multi-core mode 6762.

The chipsets turned out to be powerful, as they saysynthetic tests and live user experience. Yes, Snapdragon is slightly inferior in performance, but we know how the manufacturer optimized a single-chip system for the interface and the shell, this is the result. In the case of the G90T, MediaTek was faced with heating the chipset in high-performance tasks and added a cooling system, this plays a role, but the chip turned out to be too “thermonuclear”, so at the maximum graphics settings in games, heating could not be avoided and the knobs can be “ burn". To call it a gaming solution in the middle segment, the language does not turn. Solid middling. Recall the Pocophone F1 on the Snapdragon 845, yes there, there was something similar, and then another advertising move, but overall the optimization is very good, it works smoothly and quickly.

In everyday tasks, both smartphones behaveimpeccably, from which it follows that the processor in this case is not the main criterion for choosing, both are adequately optimized. Let's continue comparing Realme X2 and Redmi Note 8 Pro and focus on displays

Display

Note 8 prohas an IPS screen with a diagonal of 6.53 inches with a resolution of 2340*1080; with a density of 395 PPI and an aspect ratio of 19:5:9. The screen is covered with Corning Gorilla Glass 5.

Realme X2equipped with a 6.4-inch diagonal Amoled matrix with a resolution of 2340*1080; density 403 PPI, and with a similar aspect ratio. Corning Gorilla Glass 5 is also covered.

IPS— Amoled, again this controversial criterion.I already told you about my attitude towards Amoled panels, in an article about Samsung, and there I wrote about such disadvantages as the high cost of components when replacing, color distortion, matrix burnout, a negative effect on vision and a high PWM coefficient (width width). pulse modulation). And it’s no secret that in the middle segment, Amoled is not of the best quality. Tests also showed that the IPS screen of the Note 8 Pro is 23% brighter, 631 Nits versus 514 Nits for the Realme X2.

Camera

The main camera of the Note 8 Pro consists of 4 lenses, these are:

  • 64 MP module (Samsung S5KGW1 sensor), with f/1.9 aperture; — digital
    stabilization. It is possible to record slow-motion video at 960 FPS. Recording in 4K (30 fps)
  • Ultra-wide module 8 MP, with aperture f / 2.2;
  • Macro lens 2 MP, with aperture f / 2.4;
  • 2 MP portrait module, with f / 2.4 aperture;
  • Front camera 20 MP (0.9 microns), with aperture f / 2.0

The main camera of Realme X2 also has 4 lenses, these are:

  • 64 MP module (Samsung S5KGW1 sensor), with aperture 1.8; + optical
    stabilization. Recording in 4K (30 fps)
  • Ultra-wide module 8 MP, with aperture f / 2.3;
  • Macro lens 2 MP, f/2.4 aperture;
  • 2 MP portrait module, with f / 2.4 aperture;
  • Front camera 32 MP (0.8 microns), with aperture f / 2.0

Analysis.

When comparing these specifications, a mark appears.equally. They will shoot at approximately the same level based on the data. Plus, Realme piggy bank for optical stabilization, and Note, in turn, has the ability to write in 960 FPS.

Memory. Battery

Note 8 prohas 64 GB and 128 GB built-in storagememory, as well as 6 GB RAM (LPDDR 4X) with a frequency of 2133 MHz! * There is support for memory cards up to 512 GB. There is a 4500 mAh battery on board, an impressive capacity, with support for 18 W fast charging, which allows you to charge the phone at a speed of 30% in 30 minutes. The charge holds perfectly, 16 hours when watching videos at 50% screen brightness. In everyday use, 2 days are guaranteed.

Realme X2comes with 64 GB drives; 128 GB; 256GB of internal memory and 6/8 GB (LPDDR 4X) of RAM operating at 1766 MHz. There is support for memory cards up to 256 GB. The battery capacity of Realme X2 is 4000 mAh with support for 30 W ultra-fast charging, which allows you to fill the capacity by 67% in 30 minutes! The result is impressive, and yes, it is one of the best in the mid-segment. A smartphone with such a capacity will last on average 1.5 — 2 days, also thanks to the Snapdragon 730G, built using a new energy-efficient technical process.

* I note that when choosing RAM in a smartphone, in my opinion, it is more important how fast it works (quality), and not quantity, so the advantage is definitely for Note 8 Pro.

Periphery. OS Price

Both devices have interfaces such as:

  • NFC and contactless payments
  • Bluetooth 5.0
  • Wi-Fi 5.0
  • LTE
  • Both smartphones have 2D face scans as wellfingerprint scanner. In Realme X2, the optical scanner is integrated directly into the screen, which in my opinion is a dubious decision, since everything that came to my attention with a similar implementation works extremely awfully, slowly and reads through once. In Note 8 Pro, the scanner is located on the back under the cameras, and reads the print perfectly.
  • The operating system is Android 9.0, and this is the current version out of the box for Realme X2 with the ColorOS 6 shell. In turn, the Note 8 Pro with the MIUI 11 shell can be immediately upgraded to Android 10.

Total

This is the same case when you are standing in a storein front of a shop window, you see two of these smartphones next to each other and it’s extremely difficult to make a choice. And as a result, the main criterion for the average consumer is design and color, but it’s not always possible to find delicious candy in a beautiful wrapper. For this reason, such a detailed debriefing exists.

The choice is yours, but I’ll add on my own, my choice Note8 Pro. It has more potential. The most important aspect when choosing is the screen, you look at it, and in 8 Pro it is more correct. Faster memory, both internal and RAM, and you know, this is one of the most important criteria. Realme X2 is an excellent smartphone for the money, which will give a head start to many in the mid-range segment, it has a twist. A— brands have reason to think about it as long as there is such a choice on the market.
