Computer-written articles recognized as unique

The Chinese news agency China News Service wrote an article in which it shared information that the court

Shenzhen officially ruled that articles created using artificial intelligence should be considered unique and protected by copyright.

This is the first time in the history of the judiciary, when the materials developed by the neural network received copyright protection. In this case, the court decision concerns the texts of Tencent, namely the works written by its software called Dreamwriter. For those who are not in the know, we’ll clarify that this program specializes in creating materials about business and finance.

By the way, the lawsuit began in connection witha situation that happened back in 2018: then the Yingxun Technology Company on its online platform published a text brazenly stolen from Tencent, justifying that this material was written automatically and without the participation of the authors, which means that it is in no way protected by copyright. But, as we can be convinced by court order, even those works that are created by artificial intelligence can still have protected authorship.
