The survey involved 1,733 people who ended up in hospital beds in Wuhan, China, infected with a virus that was still unknown at the time.Many were hospitalized long before this infection received its official name COVID-19. Middle Ageof the subjects was 57 years old.
76% of patients in the study reported persisting symptoms.
- 63% reported fatigue and muscle weakness,
- another 26% reported sleep problems.
When these patients were retestedafter six months, their neutralizing antibody levels were 52.5% lower. Scientists said this raises concerns about re-infection with COVID-19.
Lead author Bin Cao, from the National Center for Respiratory Medicine, noted that the results of the studies speakabout the need to be constantly monitored and take care of yourself, even after recovery.
