Specialists at the University of Texas at Austin have tested a drug that can dissolve blood clots in blood vessels.
In particular, the authors of the new scientific workshowed that the probability of mass death of nerve cells can be reduced if tenecteplase, a synthetic analog of the PLAT protein that dissolves blood clots, is injected into the body intravenously.
The drug has already been tested on volunteers.In the trial, 234 people received tenecteplase and 354 received other thrombolytic drugs. Experiments have shown that in the first case, patients retained the ability to walk with a 5% greater probability. In addition, the number of deaths decreased by 4%. And the new drug is 10% cheaper than analogues.
