Curtiss-Wright to Supply F-35 Technology Refresh 3 Test Equipment

Nellis Air Force Base has provided funding to Curtiss-Wright to supply

test equipment as part of the Technology Refresh 3 (TR-3) upgrade. The project is a critical step in the development of the F-35.

What is known

Curtiss-Wright will provide the modernization programequipment that is installed on the aircraft during testing. It's called Flight Test Instrumentation. The transaction amount was $24 million. Work under the contract will take place at the Teletronics Technology Corporation plant in Pennsylvania.

TR-3 is a critical upgradefifth generation fighter F-35 Lightning II. It involves upgrading the software and hardware components of the aircraft. The project aims to improve the memory, display, computing capabilities of the multirole fighter to support future technology requirements. The Block 4 upgrade will be based on the TR-3.

It is worth noting that next month the Pentagonwill stop deliveries of F-35 TR-3 fighters until the software is finalized. Aircraft from the conveyor will be sent immediately to the warehouse. TR-2 deliveries will continue.
