The defense ministries of the Czech Republic and Slovakia agreed on the joint purchase of Swedish Stridsfordon 90 combat vehicles

production, also known as CV90.

What is known

The plans of the Czech Republic to buy infantry fighting vehicles became known back inJuly 2022. As reported, the Czech Republic will order 210 CV90 infantry fighting vehicles on a tracked chassis. Slovakia wants to buy 223 infantry fighting vehicles. The agreement on the joint purchase of armored vehicles was signed during the SIAF 2022 air show by the defense ministers of the Czech Republic and Slovakia, Jana Černochová and Jaroslav Nad’, respectively.

It is additionally noted that Slovakia will purchasecombat vehicles in two stages. At the first stage, 152 units will be delivered, and at the second - 71. At the same time, the state will receive seven modifications of the CV90, including the CV9035 version with a 35-mm automatic cannon and a 120-mm mortar. The launch of local production of BaE Systems infantry fighting vehicles in the Czech Republic and Slovakia is also being discussed.
