Have you forgotten about Dead Island 2? The game was announced back at E3 back in 2014. Over the course of seven years of development, the project changed three

studios, and new creators are in no hurry to share details, at least until they are asked.

What is known

Gamesindustry.biz spoke with Koch Media CEO Klemens Kundratitz, learning new details about the project. According to Clemens, the protracted development of Dead Island 2 shows that the company values the brand and gamers are in for an awesome zombie game.

“Look, Dead Island is a very important brandfor us and we have to do it right. It's just a testament to our dedication to getting it right. It makes a great story when you tell everyone that it [the game] is in its third studio. Still, we like to be judged by the final result. We're really confident that when it [Dead Island 2] comes out, it's going to be an awesome zombie game," Clemens said.

Dead Island 2 was originally developed bythe creators of the first part from Techland. Over time, the studio switched its focus to Dying Light, giving the project to Yager Developments in 2012. Already in 2016, Sumo Digital, the developers of Crackdown 3, took on Dead Island 2, and at the beginning of 2019, the project fell into the hands of Dambuster Studios, the authors of Homefront: The Revolution.

Dead Island 2 was last seen at gamescom2014, where Yager Developments brought a demo version of the game. Then the developers said that the action would take place in California, where gamers would enjoy multiplayer, co-op and a platform for exterminating zombies. Hollywood was planned to be one of the locations in Dead Island 2. The developers even had to pay for the use of a sign with the name of the area.
