Deal with Tencent will not affect the independence of Ubisoft - said the founder of the company

Last week it became known about a deal between Guillemot Brothers Limited (one of the companies that owns Ubisoft) and the Chinese

by Tencent Corporation.

It was announced that the Chinese would invest almost $300 million and in return receive a 49.9% stake in Guillemot Brothers Limited and increase their stake in Ubisoft to 10%.

Against the backdrop of this news, there was speculation that the French company could lose its independence.

Ubisoft co-founder and CEO Yves Guillemot gave an official comment to Reutters and stated that:

We remain completely independent and can work with any third party company if we wish. Ubisoft will do whatever they want.
