DeLorean from "Back to the Future" received a new version: now it is an electric car with a range of up to 482 km and acceleration to "hundreds" in 3.4 seconds

The American company DeLorean Motor Company has announced a new version of the legendary car DeLorean from

movie Back to the Future.

What is known

The machine was called Alpha5 and futuristicdesign. Responsible for it is Italdesign, which over 40 years ago created the look of the original DeLorean DMC-12. The car retained the gullwing doors, but now it's not a coupe, but a four-seater fastback. In addition to this, the novelty has become an electric car.

The DeLorean Alpha5 received an aerodynamic drag coefficient of 0.23 (for example, the Tesla Model S has 0.24) and rather large dimensions: length 4995 mm, width 2044 mm and height 1370 mm.

There are not many technical characteristics of the machine, butRumor has it that the novelty was created on the EVX platform, which was developed by Italdesign and Williams Advanced Engineering. The car was equipped with a 100 kW / h battery. Thanks to her Alpha5 is able to travel on a single charge up to 482 km on the EPA cycle. The electric car accelerates to “hundreds” in just 3.4 seconds. The maximum speed of the car is 241 km / h.

When to expect

Unfortunately, the timing of the DeLorean's market entryAlpha5 is not yet available. It is only known that the car will be produced in Italy. It will be released in limited quantities - only 88 pieces. A full presentation of the car will be held in August.
