Researchers at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis have developed a way to combat
The drug was developed by researchersUniversity of Washington, who plan to conduct a phase 1 clinical trial to study its safety and efficacy in patients with synovial sarcoma that has spread beyond the original tumor site.
Synovial sarcoma is rare, with 900 to 1,000 new cases diagnosed each year, and is most often diagnosed during adolescence.
“Synovial sarcoma is caused by veryspecific genetic mutation, so it is a relatively pure cancer, meaning it has one specific genetic error that can be exploited, unlike other cancers which have a complex accumulation of many mutations whose effects are difficult to unravel,” – stated the authors of the work.
