The unified national standards included the results of the work of metropolitan radiologists who used computer
“Moscow has accumulated extensive experience in the fieldartificial intelligence to help doctors in their daily work. Developments in the capital formed the basis for national standards for the use of advanced technologies in medicine. Common standards will help speed up the implementation of digital assistants throughout Russia. This will allow IT companies to better understand the requirements for machine learning algorithms and software already at the development stage, and customers - both public and private - to formulate an accurate technical specification. As a result, all regions of our country will be able to improve the quality of disease diagnosis. Four standards have already been adopted at the federal level, and seven more are currently in development.”
Anastasia Rakova, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Social Development
The standards were created based on the experience of the Moscow experiment on the use of computer vision in radiology diagnostics, initiated by the Moscow Government.
AI services in Moscow are integrated intoradiological information service of the Unified Medical Information and Analytical System (ERIS EMIAS), which unites all Moscow radiology departments. Radiologists can use data from a single system if their clinic is connected to it.
According to the technology description, algorithmsartificial intelligence are already able to detect lung cancer, COVID-19, spinal osteoporosis, thoracic aortic aneurysm, signs of coronary heart disease on CT images, as well as lung pathology on radiography and fluorography, and breast cancer on mammography.
Since 2020, neural networks have helped doctorsanalyze almost 5 million images. In addition, AI algorithms have improved the quality and speed of disease diagnosis; it has become easier for doctors to identify those patients who require urgent medical care; as a result, the waiting time for a conclusion has also decreased. It is important to note that innovative methods for analyzing medical images do not replace a doctor; digital assistants work only on the principle of recommendations and protection from the human factor.
Note that the unified national standardsestablish the basic concepts and norms that are necessary for the introduction of artificial intelligence technologies in medical institutions in all regions of Russia. The documents are posted on the Rosstandart website and are available to both service developers and customers of such technologies, including government ones, from all regions of Russia.
