Discord is making changes to usernames on the platform – the end of four-digit discriminators has come

Discord is making changes to its naming system that will finally eliminate four-character “discriminators”.

making nicknames very cumbersome. Changes will also be made to the display of names, so you can now customize how you appear to other users.

What is known

The problem of names in Discord is not new at all –players have been complaining about the inconvenient system for years. For those who do not use the messenger, let me clarify: each nickname in Discord is assigned a random identifier number, for example phill#3421, and in order for your friends to find you, you need to call these numbers. Moreover – Nicknames are also registry sensitive! That is, PhiLL#1234 and phil#1234 – this is not the same nickname. It seems that the messenger developers finally realized that something is wrong here and something needs to be changed.

With the update, everyone will be providedthe ability to choose a unique nickname consisting of letters, numbers, dots or underscores and a separate name (as before), which will be displayed in the profile, as is done, for example, in the Telegram messenger.
