DJI Mini SE: a cheap drone with Mavic Mini stuffing in a Mini 2 body. But not for everyone

DJI has expanded its range with the budget Mini SE drone, rumors about which have been circulating online recently

time. A couple of weeks ago, it was spotted in the Walmart online store catalog, which should have meant its imminent announcement in the United States. However, everything turned out in a rather strange way.

A statement from DJI Europe states that the DJI MiniSE is a “specialized product aimed at entry-level drone pilots in markets where consumer drone use is emerging.” Despite the appearance of the new product at Walmart, the drone will not be sold either in the USA or in Europe (except Russia). Instead, it “will be sold primarily in emerging market countries in Southeast Asia and South America.”

As for Europe and the USA, here usersoffer the DJI Mini 2 drone. “The DJI Mini 2 remains our entry-level flagship drone with superior 4K/30fps resolution and up to 10 km image transmission (subject to local rules and regulations),” DJI said in a statement.

Essentially, DJI Mini SE uses internalMavic Mini components in a Mini 2 body. Its weight is about 250 g, the quadcopter can record video with a resolution of 2.7K at 30 fps or Full HD at 60 fps, takes pictures with a resolution of 12 MP, and has a 3-axis installation gimbal, has a wireless range of 2.5 miles and is capable of flying in the air for about 20 minutes.

The DJI Mini SE is priced at MYR 1,349 ($325) in Malaysia, although Walmart was listed at $299.
